What’s it about?
Violette Touissaint is a cemetery keeper in France. She leads a quiet life now, but she lived differently before working amongst the graves. When she meets Julien Seul at the cemetery, it brings up feelings she has left behind.
What did it make me think about?
Love, loss, regret.
Should I read it?
This is my second novel by Valerie Perrin this summer, and I enjoyed both. This book is a slow simmer from start to finish. I enjoyed it a lot, but had no trouble putting it down. I have to say that I moved homes as I was reading this book- so that may have been why it was so easy to put down. It is a layered and dense story, and I was so impressed with the way it was written. If you have not discovered Velerie Perrin, then it is time you did. Thanks to my sister-in-law Ann for sharing this author with me.
