What’s it about?
Nita Prose has written a follow-up to her popular mystery The Maid. Molly Gray is back and now she is the head maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. When a famous author drops dead during a press conference Molly dreads what will happen to the staff in her hotel. Molly is unusual and she notices details that others miss. Will she be able to help Detective Stark find the killer?
What did it make me think about?
Who did it?
Should I read it?
The Mystery Guest is a stand-alone book that does not require you to read her first novel. I enjoyed The Maid a little more because it was so original. If you loved the first book, then you will also love this one. They are very similar. This book was just a tad bit slower for me, and at times, it felt forced. I do think this novel would appeal to any reader who likes a wholesome whodunit. Perhaps the perfect Christmas gift for Grandma?
A passage I marked
"Gran taught me everything I know, such as how to polish silver, how to read books and people, and how to make a proper cup of tea."
