What’s it about?

When Wilbur Budd dies of old age, he has a chance to look back on his life from the Midnight Train. What would he change?

What did it make me think about?

This story illustrates what greed and ambition can do to a person. It also is a simplified illustration of what different generations see as successful life.

Should I read it?

This is a great beach read. You obviously must suspend belief and then the pages just fly by. If I had a criticism it would be that the story simplifies a generations choice's as greedy and self-serving. Now those choices may have been- but nothing is that simple. It will be interesting to see what future generations think of the choices made in the next few decades. But these are great points for future book clubs to discuss. Pick this one up at the airport if you want a quick read.
